It took approximately 12 hours to fill the Parkview Pool in Aurora with water Thursday and Friday. City crews will be cleaning up and preparing the facility all this week for opening day, which is set for Saturday, May 25.

That was the message from Aurora Supt. Damon McDonald as 93 seniors awaited the awarding of diplomas Sunday afternoon during Aurora High School’s 126th commencement.

Hampton High School said good-bye to 14 seniors at a Saturday afternoon commencement ceremony in the gym.

Valedictorian Cole Arnett said he’s been asked countless times if he thought he was ready for this day.

“Can a person ever really be ready?” he asked during his address. “But then I realized, we’ve been preparing for this our whole lives.”
